Last week we celebrated the feast of St. Joseph, the Husband of Mary and the legal father of Jesus.

Pope Francis has a statue of the Sleeping Joseph on his night table and his advice is that if you have something that concerns you that you write it on a piece of paper and slip it under the statue of St. Joseph. I have that same statue and custom, by the way.

Why “sleeping” people ask? Joseph was like his namesake in the Book of Genesis, a master dreamer! Joseph the Carpenter had angels appear to him in dreams to announce the Christ Child’s birth and to warn of the evil intentions of King Herod, and finally, to tell him when it was safe to return from Egypt. Even when sleeping St. Joseph is taking care of the Church!

Today is the Fourth Sunday of Lent, traditionally called Laetare (Rejoice!) Sunday and the priest wears rose colored vestments. We rejoice because Lent is more than half over and Easter will soon be here.

Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, Pray for us!
